As you all may be aware, Myanmar held their historic elections on November 8, 2015. Women’s participation is integral to democratization and peaceful transition of Myanmar. To ensure that, the newly elected leaders are urged to address the importance of women participation at the parliament.
The Women’s Initiatives Network for Peace (WIN-PEACE), the Women Can Do It (WCDI) – Myanmar, Htoi Gender & Development, Karen Women’s Empowerment Group in partnership with the Initiatives for International Dialogue (IID) and Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) – Southeast Asia released a statement on this issue on November 17, 2015.
