September 21, 2012, members of IID in Manila join the celebration of the International Day of Peace together with different peace advocates and organization at the Quezon City Memorial Circle. The day also coincides with the 40th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law, which was commemorated through the launching The Peace Marker at the historic Mendiola Street.

In the two events, IID brought its campaign “The One Million Voices for Peace”; a campaign intended to raise awareness of the Filipino people about the necessity for a peaceful settlement to the country’s conflicts.

Through signature campaign and photo petition and messages for peace, IID was able to gather more than a hundred new voices signifying their desire to end conflict in the country. Among those who added their voice to the
campaign were prominent personalities such as Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, Human Rights Lawyer and former Senator Rene Saguisag, students, police men, soldiers, human rights advocates, and peace advocates.
